Q: What is the IEN?
A: The IEN is a network of executives interested in a better understanding
of business leadership through the development of fundamental capabilities.
IEN members participate in the annual survey on the Competitive
Fitness of Global Firms.
Q: How much does it cost to
join?
A: Absolutely no money required.
Q: Can I be an IEN panelist
for more than one year?
A: Yes. One-time participation provides a snapshot of a firm whereas
annual participation provides insight into changes over time. It
is more beneficial to get updated summary results since corporate
competitive fitness develops and erodes over time.
Q: In addition to participation
in the survey, what else does joining the IEN entail?
A: Participation in the survey is the only obligation of being a
member.
Q: How much of my time does
the survey take?
A: On average, executives spend 45 minutes answering the questionnaire.
Q: How confidential
are my responses?
A: Responses are managed using a unique identification number rather
than actual names on the questionnaires. Questionnaires are kept
securely and are destroyed approximately three months after the
data analysis is completed
Q: When will I receive my
summary results report?
A: Summary reports are sent sometime in October or November the
year prior to the report publication year. For example, summary
reports for the 2002 report were sent in November of 2001, about
three months before publication of the report.
Q: How many executive responses
are required to represent my firm?
A: Three valid responses is the minimum requirement for a firm but
we recommend at least five executives from different functions in
the firm.
Q: What happens if I change
my firm or position within my firm?
A: As long as you remain with a top global firm, you are eligible
to participate. Changes in position would likely increase your experiences
and perspective of the firm.
